Nokia ready to support LTE technology in India



Kolkata: Mobile handset manufacturer Nokia today said the company was ready to support Long-Term Evolution (LTE) technology when it arrives in India, a company official said.
"Nokia is ready to provide handsets which would be LTE-enabled in the Indian market," Jasmeet Gandhi, head (services marketing) of Nokia India said.
Launching three feature-phones in the city here today, Gandhi said that Nokia would blur the difference between high-end smartphones and feature-phones by providing various applications on the handsets.
He said that feature-phones was the fastest growing category in the Indian market as these handsets were enabling users to connect to the internet at a reasonable prices compared to expensive smartphones.
Gandhi said sales of smartphones had not peaked up as expected due to low penetration of 3G bandwidth among the users.
